#37: Castlevania Aria of Sorrow (GBA)

This is good stuff ^^ The Gameboy Advance Castlevania games play just like Symphony of the Night so you know what to expect here. As someone who loves SotN I feel right at home with all the leveling up, weapon swapping, monster-killing and…soul collecting? Aria of Sorrows -thing- is that the enemies can drop their souls, giving you the specific enemies abilities, and it gives you a lot of different attack choices.

If I am to find something bad about the game it’s probably the bosses are pretty forgettable, the story is meh and since it’s a GBA game the resolution is a bit low 😐

Still, this is a must for your GBA collection and if you like Symphony of the Night you will have a good time here.

7/10 Soul collections 🦆

I am currently playing Hitman 2! I think it’s supposed to be some kind of Assassin simulator but it always turn into more of a serial killer simulator for some reason 😐

#36: Donkey Kong Country (snes)

Yep, the ape is still one slippery bastard and the bosses are still pretty boring 👍 Luckily the music is still good though!

I got sick again and even though I’ve been home from work I have not had much energy to play video games until today 😒 I started playing Castlevania Aria of Sorrow this morning but then I got tired and tried sleeping but I keep coughing and so here I am…rock you like a hurricane…wah waaaAAAaaaah 🦆 I’m losing my mind 👌

#35: Metal Slug 3 (pc)

Yeah, I’ll count it even though me and my brother died a lot 🦆

It’s pretty fun, the graphics has that chunky Metal Slug style and it sounds great!

The problem is that it’s one of them arcade games and so it has to kill you a lot to make that money, not a problem when playing with unlimited “money” but it does feel a bit cheap…maybe if you get your wallet out and start putting money in a jar every time you press continue 🤔

5/10 chubby tanks

It IS a good game but I just don’t feel as fulfilled beating it at home as I would in the arcade.

#32: Onimusha Warlords Remaster

I’ve never played any Onimusha games before so this is completely new to me!

Locked camera-angles, samurai, upgradable weapons and orbs, many angry enemies and some even angrier bosses. It’s pretty good stuff, the lack of health items got a bit annoying a couple of times, the lock on is a bit wonky and the dark realm challenge floors got to me…I went raaaargh 😐

Pretty short but it’s fine…maybe I should get Onimusha 2?

Also thanks to “Lukasthecoolboy” for hanging out on twitch and guiding me. Sorry I never had the patience to hack my way through the dark realm, I blame the lack of sleep 🦆

I beat this and Castlevania 4 this past weekend, I just never updated here 😑

#31: Super Castlevania 4

I had to refresh my memory after beating Bloodlines…I wish didn’t 😑

Don’t get me wrong, there are many good things about this game, the graphics look fine, the music is great and most of the time it plays good but there are a couple of things that ruin it for me.

Asshole enemy placement is standard in these games and most of the time you can make it without taking a hit…but first time through you will have some bullshit deaths.

Now, the worst problem in the game; the stairs. Most of the game it’s, ugh, fine 😒But at the end where you jump onto stairs that start falling away the game can get fucked! I am convinced there is some kind of RNG goblin deciding whether or not you are going to just fall through the damn things and it completely broke me. There where some screams 😐

I had more fun with Castlevania Bloodlines/New Generation. Handle it 🦆

The lack of sleep and being stressed out over life has me kind of on the brink of snapping so videogames might not be the best thing right now. The gamer-rage is real 🦅 Maybe I should play something a bit less stressful, something that does not require split second reactions and precise button pressing…a turn-based RPG? Some kind of story-driven game? I am not sure what to play.

I bought Immortals Fenyx Rising because it looked nice but I have not started it yet. I also bought the Legend of Mana Remaster on PS4 but I’ll play that with my brother later this year.

How about that video where I’ll show my collection? Yeah, I have no energy and right now I have to hop in the shower and get ready for work. The weekends are the only free time I have and I need to use that time to play videogames! 🦆

#30: Castlevania Bloodlines

Overlooked, well worth playing if you like oldschool Castlevania and a must in any serious Genesis/Megadrive collection ^^ I own the PAL version of the game (Castlevania The New Generation) but I played a Japanese ROM because I wanted to experience the uncensored version. I don’t know why they messed with the PAL versions so much back then 😑

The graphics look great with some really cool effects in places, the sound and music are both great and the gameplay is oldschool Castlevania. The only thing I wish for is a standing diagonal whip, you have to jump to pull it of.

The bosses are fun and the levels are fine. It’s the 16bit Castlevania that people probably never played and that is a shame.

Oh, one more thing! I think you should just be able to continue after you get a game over but you have to return to the start screen to put in the password…annoying 😒 I only have 3 password screen photos on my phone so it wasn’t that bad though 🦆

#27: Castle of Illusion (SMD)

Hahaha 😀 AGAIN! But for MegaDrive (Genesis) this time ^^

It’s harder, looks better and it’s longer (Leave it) …and I actually got a game over on the spooky level 😐

I’ve played it before on this blog so look for it if you want more words and stuff ^^

Since I’ll have some BBQ and drinks this Saturday I lose one day of gaming so I need to figure something out, and fast 🤔 3 more games to beat this month if I want to keep pace 🦆

I also want to play Immortals Fenyx Rising and Elden Ring but those be long-ass games so I really need to make up some time!

#26: Aladdin (SMD)

I thought to myself; “yes, I’ve beaten Aladdin before, easy! ^^”.

I did not remember the Jago boss fight and it wrecked me 😀 I thought I could swing at the spawner-brain-thingy or maybe Jago with the sword but that did not seem to work…yeah, throw the apples and when you are out you walk around back and pick up more. Same with the last boss 😒 It was still pretty easy but it was not the walk in the park I thought it would be 🦆

After playing it on the Master System I have to say the cutscenes are better on that system 😐 Maybe I should play the SNES version too? I remember thinking the Genesis/Mega Drive version was the best but I might have to refresh my memory 🤔

Now I’m le tired so I’ll go have a nap ZEN PLAY SOME MORE GAMEZ! (those who get it are old, like me 🦆)

#24: Little Hope (PC) #25: Castle of Illusion (SMS)

Another game with witch trials and stuff 🦆

The second game in the “Dark Pictures Anthology” series and, in my opinion, better than Man of Medan. It’s still the same thing though; make choices and see how many characters you can keep alive. Of course there is a twist to the story 🦆

Oh yeah, I played this with a friend and since we played it in the living-room I did not see that the stream was just a black screen…I forgot to tell XSplit what I wanted to capture so there was TWO AND A HALF HOUR OF BLACK SCREEN. Pro streamer 😑

Now I only have House of Ashes left…until this summer when The Quarry is released 😁 It’s not part of the Dark Pictures but it’s the same developer and the gameplay is going to be the same ^^

Castle of Illusion (SMS): Yeah, one game per post 🦆 I’ve beaten it before so there is a post on here somewhere if you want to know more 👍

Now I’m a bit behind again…because I am lazy 😐 I think I’m gonna cheese it a bit and maybe play through Castle of Illusion on Genesis…Megadrive…Genedrive…Sega 16-bit 🦅 Maybe Aladdin too…I need some quick and easy games to beat if I’m gonna go after something bigger. I am actually thinking of playing Elden Ring or Dark Souls 3 but I know those are probably 40-50 hour games.

Elden Ring (PC) or Dark Souls 3 (PS4)?

Left Alive (PS4) or Onimusha: Warlords (PC)?

#20: Super Mario Land and #21: Timespinner

I keep forgetting to update here!

In my defense I beat Super Mario Land (gb) right before work last Tuesday so I had to run right after the credits ^^ I’ve beaten it before but I was one game short in February so I wanted something quick and easy to get the numbers right 🦆

Timespinners (PC) is a 2D Metroid-like game that borrows A LOT from the Metroidvanias ^^ (meaning the Castlevania games that play like Metroid…I could go on a rant about how dumb it is to call games like Timespinners “Metroidvania”…but I won’t because I am sleepy)

Anyways! The game looks amazing, the sprite-work is top tier, the music is great, the gameplay feels really nice! The story is…kind of cool? It’s basically the Killzone story; some people got banished to a world and on that world they got angry because of…the weather…or something, it’s called the bleakness here 😐 I got a bit bored with the sappy dialogues and the different relationships they were trying to flesh out. I can’t say I really felt for any of the characters 😐 But you don’t play Symphony of the Night because of the terrible voice-overs, you play it for the great gameplay ^^ Yeah I am comparing it to Symphony of the Night…pretty high praise. It’s not AS good though and it’s shorter…I could have gone and looked for the last cog for the Timespinner (time traveling device) but I was already knocking on the last boss’s door so…you know, the bloodlust 🦆

Still, it’s good 7/10 orbs 👍

I finally started playing Metroid Dread this past night and so far it’s been good…still wish it was 2D sprites but, I get it, kids these days demand them polygons 😑
